UPDATE: It seems that I’m pretty clueless about what the kids today are reading—these are from a published book. So I’m probably posting these excerpts illegally. Eh.
————————————–
A friend of mine emailed these to me ages ago—I don’t know where he got them so I can’t give appropriate credit, unfortunately. But I thought they were pretty damned funny so I thought I would share them with you.
This would be a fun way of teaching history, actually.

Madame Weebles,
These were funny. There are also some Star Wars ones that produced a few giggles… Not that I am a g33k or anything…
Le Clown
Oh, Le Clown. You’re talking to a Star Trek geek of epic proportions. Not to worry.
They are great. I purchased the book a few months ago. It was an excellent read. You can buy it on Amazon.
The History of the World According to Facebook
Thanks for this info, Hankering—I’m ashamed of myself for not knowing about this book. Makes me wish I had thought of this idea.
John Wilkes Booth ‘likes’ this — ahahahahahaha!
I LOL’d at that one.
Very clever M. Weebles! Thanks for sharing.
I’m probably breaking the law by sharing since I just learned that these are from a published book, but whatever. I’ll start saving up bail money now.
Wouldn’t it be a bigger “oops” if your blog was raking in moulah?
That’s true. Now that you mention it, they should be paying ME for free advertising.
So many of these are awesome I can’t even point out which I like the best. Brilliant.
Cheers
Right? I’m kicking myself for not coming up with this idea first.
Oh wait, there’s another picture too! Damn. Now I’m going to have to spend the next five mins reloading your page to see them all. And then? It’s random. How long do I have to do it to be certain. Waaaahhhhhhh. Eternity?????
Cheers!
Now you know I would never do that to you, Nigel. Not after you’ve been so considerate to give us all 5 extra minutes. There are only 3 pictures. So you’ve seen them all. And fortunately I’m too lazy to take any more photos right now, so that’s it for the time being.
History is a fiction upon which we collectively agree. These are funny, and about as true to history as anything else.
Very true. History—and the interpretation of it—is pretty mutable stuff.
I think in the future this WILL BE the way they teach history! haha! It’s not so far fetched since I learned all of my history from School House Rocks – a very reputable source. No, seriously, I did.

I LOVE Schoolhouse Rock. LOVE IT. I’m sure millions of us can sing the preamble to the Constitution thanks to that bit!
And now “A noun is a person, place or thing…” is going through my head.
Facebook, it scares me. It does.
.
You don’t enjoy reading updates from zillions of close personal acquaintances? Or having FB have access to all your personal information? Yeah, I don’t either but I’m on it anyway.
These are so great! I especially like the ancient asteroid. And will definitely check out the book since we now know from whence they came! Thanks, MW!
I’m going to check out that book myself!
Bahahaha! LOVE this! And checking out that book right now.
Aren’t they great? I anticipate that Amazon will see an uptick in sales of this book as of today. I’m going to email them and demand a commission.
As you should.
Top dollar. Many of my cartoons ideas are culled from history and literature. Kinda limits how many people get the allusions. Fewer comments on these.
I think your history cartoons are really funny, Carl. But I can see how they might not appeal to the widest audience.
Ha!!! And you gotta love the cockroaches… Have they really been around since prehistoric times?
I think they have, Lovely. I hate that those little bastards can survive anything. They’re disgusting and have no business on this planet.
Thank you. That one about God made my day. And possibly the next day, too.
I thought that was a good’un too. Although I LOL’d at them all.
Those were great!
I thought it would be a fun change of pace.
It worked.
This is clever. Love it. Does God comment and like on your facebook page? He does on mine. Oh wait. Typo. It should be dog not god. oops.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Nice one.
Hilarious!
‘LIKE’
I may have to buy the book now to share all the others!
That is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read! In Tel Aviv I saw a Facebook graffiti about Romeo and Juliet. Juliet changed her relationship status to “it’s complicated” and Romeo liked it. That was pretty good too!
That’s a good one too—there really are some clever people out there.
